on the Front Line
with Global Conservation Force
South African Xhosa women are joining their male counterparts on the front lines of protecting the majestic White Rhino. Risking their lives as anti-poaching rangers, these women are finding meaningful work within their own communities.

Amakhala Game Reserve mission
Amakhala Game Reserve has a mission to protect South Africa’s diversity, endangered wildlife, and vulnerable communities by re-wilding the flora and fauna. The Last Ranger was shot on location at Amakhala where Litha learns to embrace her own wildness.

"The Last Ranger’ is an exquisite story from South Africa. The visuals are entrancing, and the drama is edge of your seat..." This poignant story invites empathy not just for the endangered rhinos, but for the lives intertwined in daily struggle. It’s a beautiful story that can also have a positive impact on the future."

Darwin Shaw and Will Hawkes are co-founders of Six Feet Films production company and the Kindred Films non-profit organization that creates high-caliber, philanthropic, independent television.
When The World Stopped is a series made in collaboration with local artists to develop stories about systemic issues in their communities during the pandemic. These stories are threaded together to create an anthology TV series that captivates audiences while engaging their social conscience.
After each season’s release, Kindred then places the films into the hands of global charity partners to raise awareness and support as well as educators so they can screen the films to inspire students to advocate for the causes they care about.
